Meet Lilo

Lilo is a Female Common seal pup who was found on 28th June 2016 at Salthill in Galway by Elise Brown.

She was around 4 - 7 days old and weighed only 9.35Kg. Thanks to the staff at Barna Vet Clinic for giving Lilo vital fluids before she was transported to the centre by Olivia O 'Reilly and Pat & Maureen Clarke.

When Lilo arrived at the centre she was very dehydrated and lethargic. She was tube fed fluids to try and perk her up.

Over the next few days in ICU she enjoyed short baths and this seemed to brighten her up. But after her baths she became very dehydrated and flat again. All she wanted to do was sleep.

We started her on antibiotics for a nasty gastric infection and this work a treat. She started to become a lot brighter as the infection cleared.

Lilo is now in Kennels and enjoying longer bath times. She is still on the Antibiotics and being tube fed but she is now a totally different seal. She is up to 13kg :)

Hopefully over the next few days we will start teaching her how to eat fish on her own.

We will keep you updated on the progress of Lilo so stay tuned.
