Meet Archangel and Stan Lee

Archangel was rescued on 15th December 2015 from East Pier in Howth Co Dublin. He was found by Margo Brennan and transported to the centre by the wonderful Caroline Maguire. Archangel was around 3 weeks old and weighed only 14.7kg. He was underweight, dehydrated and had minor wounds on his side and back flippers.

Thankfully he had no major injuries and after a few days in ICU with a heat lamp, warm blankets and plenty of fluids we were able to move him into one of the kennels.

He improved very quickly and started to enjoy to enjoy daily baths. We left him some fish in the bath and after a few days he was eating all on his own.
Archangel has started to put on weight and is looking so much better.

Stan Lee was found on a slipway at Union Hall, Skibbereen Co Cork on the 14th December 2015 by Tim Forde and was rescued and driven the long journey to the centre by our wonderful network of volunteers. Huge thanks to Chelsea Collins, Lisa O'Donnell, Paddy Rodgers & Andrew Quinn from Waterford Animal Rescue.

When Stan Lee arrived at the centre on 15th December he was underweight, and had wounds all over his flippers. His back flipper had a very nasty wound that was swollen and badly infected. Stan Lee was around 5 weeks old and only weighed 13.45kg which is 2kgs below normal birth weight.

Stan Lee spent his first few nights in ICU with a heat lamp and plenty of warm blankets. He was given fluids to keep him hydrated before being moved on to fish soup and antibiotics to help clear up the infection in his back flipper.

After a few days he was moved into a kennel to give him more space to move around and also so he could enjoy supervised baths. Stan Lee is improving every day and is even eating all on his own in the bath, he is putting on weight and his wounds have all healed.
