We would like to say a very big thank you to the most amazing Meadow Greenwood who has sadly left us!! :'(
Meadow joined the Seal Rescue Ireland team last September and took on the daunting role of our Operations Manager taking on every responsibility of the centre, from animal care, intern recruitment and all the office duties, overseeing every aspect of keeping the centre up and running.
We have been through a very turbulent few years from our move over to Wexford after our sanctuary in Dingle was destroyed in storms in winter 2013/14. After nearly having to cease operations altogether, we managed to get over to our new home in Courtown and just as we were getting set up and into our first summer season, our manager Ally fell pregnant! Our momentum stopped as with a baby on the way she could not continue as planned and the centre faced many troubles then with finding a new manager and very nearly closed.
After a difficult summer season in 2015 financially things were terrible and the centre was limping to a close. BUT then the marvellous Meadow was introduced to us almost like she was sent as an angel to save the centre! With her knowledge and experience with seals, and a background with not for profits and marketing she has turned the centre around from near closure to going up and up!
Meadow has implemented so many great procedures to keep the centre going in the right direction, with great internship and volunteer program's, regular fundraisers with lots of fun and educational twists, loads of upgrades to the centre and new education and training program's, as well as making new professional connections to help SRI grow.
We are so very sad that Meadow has to leave, even though we knew her time here was temporary. She has brought new life to Seal rescue Ireland and even from afar is continuing to be involved and help with our progress as a director of the organisation. Without Meadow, there would have been nowhere for the sick and injured seals of Ireland to come to!
The centre isn't the same without you, and you are missed by everyone! We wish you didn't have to leave, but we wish you all the best in your new job over in Australia and hope that you will come back to visit us and the squeals!!!
Thank you so much for everything :)
Lotsa love from Ally, Mel and all the Seal Rescue Ireland crew! <3
