We have volunteer opportunities to suit everyone's skills and availability! It takes a lot of different characters to run a busy rehabilitation centre. Many volunteer tasks you can even do from the comforts of you home! Give us a ring to chat more about our volunteer program or read about the opportunities below.

Our internship positions start at various time of the year and are for a mininimum of 3 - 4 months. The rehabilitation internship will suit people with a keen interest in wildlife and conservation; often students studying to work within the animal care industry wanting hands on experience in the field will apply with us. We expect our volunteers to be passionate and self motivated as the days are long, sometimes 9 -12 hours and the work is tiring and dirty!

Rehab Interns are expected to take part in all daily tasks within the sanctuary which include, but are not limited to:

  • Feeding seal pups (Tube feeding, force feeding, and hand feeding)

  • Administering medical treatments (cleaning injuries/wounds, injecting medication, etc)

  • Cleaning out kennels and pools

  • Animal Observation & keeping accurate records

  • Assisting in veterinary procedures

  • Maintaining public pathways and other public facilities

  • Public talks at the seal hospital and providing tours to groups and schools.

  • Front desk operations (Answering phone, operating till, re-stocking retail stock)

  • Organizing one fundraiser and assisting with other events and fundraisers

  • Driving sometimes long distances to assist in seal rescues, and to release rehabilitated seals

For out interns we provide accommodation and groceries, for which we request a contribution of EUR €70 per week. Interns are accepted both locally and internationally and are responsible for their own transportation to and from Ireland. Collection from the airport and in country support are provided.

HOW TO APPLY: Send your CV and Coverletter to sealrescueireland@gmail.com

Observers, Rescuers & Drivers
We are always in need of Rescue drivers and carers. In this role we keep your details on our contact list and if a seal is called into us in your area within Ireland, you will be contacted to go out to the seal to check on its health and safety. Once seal is located you would give us in depth descriptions of it and take photographs to send to us to ascertain whether it is in need of help, and if in need of rescuing you would contain the animal safely and transport it some or all of the distance to the sanctuary. If this role interests you please contact us at: sealrescueireland@gmail.com

 Seal Hospital Volunteer

If you live locally and wish to help us out with cleaning, fundraising, admin, and basic animal work please send us an email at: sealrescueireland@gmail.com. We ask for a commitment of 4 hours a week if you wish to work in animal care.

Fundraiser Committee

Do you have what it takes to help us raise enough funds to help us stay open? You may be who we are looking for. We need a smart and enthusiastic team of fundraisers to help us feed all our hungry seals.
Work experience

If you are interested in a week of high school work experience, or a short term internship for practical placement within college or university please contact us at: sealrescueireland@gmail.com for
available placements year round. (For these placements you would need to arrange your own accommodation and living expenses.)

We would also consider volunteers who specifically want to help in just the administration and front desk operations, and also people with an interest in developing an education program.
If you are unable to give up any time to volunteer but still want to help, please take a look at our
