Restoring Trees and Rivers at Ballinclare Dairy
We have lots of amazing information about this riparian restoration project coming soon.
Below you’ll find an assortment of photos of our volunteers and the landowner, George, working throughout the cold, winter days of early 2022.
We are planting an assortment of 16 different Native Species, inoculated with mycorrhizal fungi to increase the tree’s resilience, improve the carbon storage potential, and build the soil food web.

Baseline Water Quality and Macroinvertebrate Survey
LAWPRO‘s Community Water Officer, Donal O’Keefe joined our Baseline Water Quality and Macroinvertebrate Survey. We sampled the Ballinclare stream using a 3-minute kick sample at the points where the stream enters and exits George’s farm. We found the stream is At Risk of not meeting the Water Framework Directive. This stream is part of the Owenavarragh Priority Area for Action, and you can learn more about the pressures on the Owenavarragh Catchment by reading the EPA’s 3rd Cycle Draft Owenavorragh Catchment Report.
