What can we learn from our ancestors long past?
We’re celebrating National Heritage Week this 15th-23rd August by exploring ways in which we can learn from our past in designing a brighter future for the planet. We have invited a local Seanchaí (storyteller), Lorraine of Gallivanting Tours, to share her wealth of knowledge of Courtown’s past and Ireland’s rich history and culture.
In this video we examine how different civilisations have interacted with these landscapes throughout the ages with the aims to empower community efforts to increase heritage preservation measures in the lush biodiversity hotspot that is the Courtown Woods. We hope you enjoy learning from the wisdom of our ancestors long passed and find a rekindled love of the invaluable woodlands on our back doorstep – some of the last remaining stronghold of An Dubh Tìr, The Dark Country.
